Manual & CNC Machinist – 1st Shift

About the Opportunity:
• Job Title: Manual & CNC Machinist - 1st Shift
• Pay Rate Range: $62,400.00-$104,000.00/salary
• Location: Lakeville, MN
• Schedule: 1st Shift Monday-Thursday 6AM-3:30PM and Friday, 6AM-11AM
• Position Type: Direct Hire

Requirements and Qualifications:
• Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience operating manual lathes and mills in a job shop, repair shop, or custom manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a machinist apprenticeship or technical college program in machine tool technology is highly preferred.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs. unassisted.
• Ability to stand for 9+ hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Machine Operation: Set up and operate conventional machine tools, including manual lathes, vertical and horizontal milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, and band saws.
• Blueprint Reading & Planning: Interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols, and job specifications to plan the optimal sequence of machining operations.
• Precision Measurement: Select, calibrate, and utilize precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions match tolerances often as tight as ±0.0005 inches.
• Tooling & Fixturing: Select appropriate cutting tools, feed rates, and spindle speeds based on the material being machined. Design and fabricate custom fixtures or work-holding devices as needed for unique jobs.
• Quality Control & Troubleshooting: Perform first-article and in-process inspections to ensure zero-defect production. Diagnose mechanical issues or machining variances and make real-time adjustments.
• Maintenance & Safety: Perform routine preventative maintenance on manual machinery (lubrication, belt adjustments, fluid checks). Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant workstation.
